I once heard the term “woodshedding” as something that old jazz and blues musicians described as the practice of going into isolation for a period of time to really concentrate on their artistic ideas and to refine their technique.  The idea that you go hide out in the woodshed and get lost in what you’re doing.  I like to think of my studio as such a place and it also happens to be clad in dark-stained cedar, loosely resembling a woodshed.
